This site runs on Agnosis — a free, federated WordPress plugin for independent artists. Artists who are great at creating but not at promoting send an email with their artwork; Agnosis handles the rest — AI writes the presentation, the community decides who joins, and the work is published here and across the open social web (the “fediverse”).
How it works
- Receive — an artist emails their work to a dedicated address, no account or upload form needed.
- Enhance — a photograph with a technical problem is corrected by AI; a good photograph is left untouched.
- Describe — AI writes a title suggestion, description, tags, and alt text, grounded only in what was actually sent.
- Review — the artist gets an email preview and decides, with one click, to publish, edit, or discard.
- Publish — the piece goes live as its own gallery page.
- Broadcast — it federates out to Mastodon, Pixelfed, and the wider Fediverse automatically.
Who it’s for
Agnosis was designed for one shape — an open artist collective that vouches its own members in — but the same email-in, AI-polish, curated-review, federate workflow also fits galleries and curated programs (with community voting switched off), theatre and art schools running student showcases, and writers’ collectives or literary magazines.
Free, open-source, and yours to run
Agnosis is free for artists to use and free to self-host — no dashboards to learn beyond WordPress’s own, no algorithm deciding who gets seen, and no ads. Any artist can leave at any time and take everything they published with them.
